Alternative Path to Recovery? I got sober through AA and maintain my program two decades later but I like exploring other routes to sobriety. Here's an interesting article on a therapy called EMDR in the recovery website The Fix....... Is EMDR the Cure? | The Fix |
Interesting stuff. |

I'm no expert but i would guess that you, having two decades, are now safe to explore "Alternative Paths." But for myself, that "alternative" way of thinking is a slippery slope that will just get me back to a very bad place, as it has many times before. regards http://emigrant.ie/boards/images/gra...icon_salut.gif |
I agree...I might look into something new when I have 20 years...I still haven't got over the fact I made it a year. |
Hi Sapling, Congrats on making one year. That's NOT small potatoes, imo. http://emigrant.ie/boards/images/gra...icon_salut.gif |
No I don't look at it like that...More like a miracle for me. |
I hve know of this, but in connection with PTSD. The professionals have been using this for several years now with PTSD sufferers with a fairly good success rate. However, those PTSD sufferers who have also fallen to alcoholism and/or add- iction still require something in addition to get on the full road to recovery. Over these many years I have been sober I have and continue to look at 'other' methods of recovery. Some I want nothing to do with, others I have taken some of their tools to add to my tool box, etc Some, I have been doing what they suggest for years, roflmao I figure as 'the professionals' come up with more and more methods, then maybe we will end up with more and more folks that not only have a chance to recover but do recover. I put this out there for people who won't go to AA. I don't know if this works but it's better to try something than nothing. It's a miracle for alcoholics to have one day sober I think. When I got to my third anniversary I was astonished and couldn't understand how I got there. Then I realized I put my fanny in a chair several times per week and it happens. |
