prayers for the still sick and suffering

Hello my SR friends. I made it through my last 48 hour IDRC today!!! I AM HOME!! Had to go away to be detained with about 30 other women that got 2 DUI's. It wasn't jail, but it was not made for comfort!

Before I left I asked my HigherPower to teach me something. I was annoyed that I had to go back and hear the same thing as the first time back in Feb.

So, this is what I learned. In the 30 other women, I was the only one in recovery, and the only one with sobriety in mind. It weighed heavy on my heart. There were women from the ages of 19 to 65. I was often in the middle of conversations about what was a favorite mix of alcohol and xanax. I was quiet. They knew I am in recovery by the books I brought. I did not preach. I just sat and listened.

My lesson, how grateful I am for the willingness to see my own addiction. To give thanks everyday for my new life! To work on the "poor me" attitude and realize I am responsible for my choices. How mentally and spiritually sick I was and can be again by picking up one drink. Most of all why we pray for the still sick and suffering!! They need us folks! They are not even aware. I was not aware myself for years! These women were beautiful people full of love and compassion. Most were mothers. I had some giggles with some of the girls who were just plain funny. Thank you for letting me share my experience!

I know it was prayers from others that got me into AA....I figure it's the least I can do. I pray for them every day.

Chasing, I love your signature line. Even if any of that happens only occasionally, there is a lot of truth in there.
