My brother wrote a song about drinking
My brother has had a long battle with mental illness dating back almost 25 years now. During a brief period of lucidity he asked my band and I to record some tracks with him.
It never really struck me until recently how right he had us Alcoholics pegged even way back then.
Here are the lyrics and link to a place where you can listen. Yeah, I know it's not the best quality but he always had a knack for wit and candor even after his battle with bipolar disorder began.

Friday Night was crazy, I drank a bit too much
You walked right out my door and said I used it as a crutch
I guess I should have listened all the times you set me straight
But if you want my loving sober I guess you'll have to wait
I'll Be Sober as a Preacher on Sunday.
Yes indeed I will be walking tall.
I'll come back and pick you up, because it's you I love enough
and I promise not to let you fall
Saturday is Friday Night Continued,
I just holding up a wall
If my face weren’t up against your picture
I probably would just weave and fall
I'll Be Sober as a Preacher on Sunday.
Yes indeed I will be walking tall.
I'll come back and pick you up, because it's you I love enough
and I promise not to let you fall
Saturday night seems empty without you
But you know that I can’t drink and drive
I know that I’ll run to you tomorrow
So for now, I’ll just stay alive
I'll Be Sober as a Preacher on Sunday.
Yes indeed I will be walking tall.
I'll come back and pick you up, because it's you I love enough
and I promise not to let you fall
