I'd often drink to 'get over it'...so my answer is it had no effect for me.

Did not crave it, it sounded awful but like Dee said, I would drink to not feel it.

Thats intense guys, thanks for that. That's exactly what I was afraid of.

Another question. When did the withdrawal start for you? Does it start when your blood alcohol level hits zero? Or did it start after 12-24 hours, etc?

I think it probably depends on what type of drinker you are. Someone that starts drinking every morning, and a binge drinker would have different experiences.
I myself started every day around 5 in the evening. At times a lot earlier on weekends. But for me I guess it was 24 to 48 hours.

The last thing i craved was alcohol. My withdrawals started pretty quickly, about 6 hours after my last drink. And the whole process lasted about 5 days, day 3 being the worst. Im going on day seven and feel very good now and it was completely worth it.

In my experience the cravings go away once the sickness sets in. The withdrawal sickness is so bad it overpowers any feelings you had prior to it. So after quitting cold turkey I would crave for 24 hours, then get sick, then get well 5 days later, then the cravings start again a few days after that.

That was me to a T. I also could have withdrawals (minor muscle spasms and shakes) while I was still drinking. Took a half dozen to quiet me down a bit.

Yup, I remember those days where six was like one. My first drink would have like 6 units of alcohol in it. That would sort me. I'd be able to function. But of course I would not stop there.
