Hey ! ratnel, have you had a look at the New Wine thread in christians ? Some of us are doing that online course, and have found it helpful. I am also renewing the faith I had several years ago, and this course has been a great help.

Good for you!! Way To Go!!

IMO...not drinking and using Matt 7:12 will make you an all time winner.

First meeting

Well I went to my first AA meeting. I was trying to figure out what was going on, how they run meetings in "these places" when low and behold the person asked "would you like to start use off with something to share?" I wanted to say I crawled out of my freeking cave and drove down here isn't that enough LOL I just said it was my first meeting and would like to just listen.
I was expecting more. I think I was expecting someone to..... I don't know...give me all the answers NOW
I need to learn to be patient.
I did buy The Big Book. I came home and read up to the third Chapter tonight.
I then read some more of John. It really is something that has to be between God and me doesn't it or do they have some answers or is it just stories of how messed up thier lives were and now thier better.
Sorry, I'm depressed, tired and would go to sleep if I could.
At least I'm sober.

Hi Ratnel
It must be day 6 for you now...WTG!
You can use the Big Book and the Bible together. AA doesn't say what Higher Power to believe in, just that you believe in a Higher Power, a God of your understanding. And yes there are stories of how it was and how now it is better. There is also the 2 chapters on How It Works and then Into Action, in these are the steps and everything you need to stay sober. A friend of mine always said..."it's in chapters 5 &6 in the Big Book" every time I asked a question. He was right...I have found all I need in there. The rest is just more motivation for me. So use everything you can to keep your sobriety and believe and trust in the God of your understanding because, yes, when it comes right down to it, the strength to not pick up that first drink will come from you and your Higher Power working together.
Keep It Simple!

Thanks for my 4810 days of sobriety
