First Anniversary Party Meeting

So last night I went to an anniversary party for a big book group that I attend regualarly on tuesday nights. It was the most awesome thing I have ever seen. Forget about the food and the celebration, the meeting itself was absolutely amazing. There were about 100 people there, which is the biggest event that I have been to so far. (I know there are much larger ones) The speaker was a young guy about my age and he had 2 years sober. It was really inspiring to hear somenoe my own age who has been in recovery for a couple years and who appears to be entirely happy. I went up to him afterwards and shook his hand and thanked him for his message.

The end of the meeting was the most spectacular thing. I always enjoy the ending prayer but this circle was HUGE! It felt really great to be part of such a strong connection of people.

Afterwards I told a friend about the meeting and he says "thats nothing, just wait until you go to a convention and a couple thousand people join hands, now THATS awesome!"

Just wanted to share.

Big groups, small groups, and in-between groups all have their appeal. But I'm with you, there isn't nothin like a large group of alky's and/or addicts celebrating life.

I always look forward to roundups and especially AA campouts. Absolutely nothing compares to sitting around a large fire, with river, deer and lots of friends. Usually go to several throughout the summer.

That sounds like a blast Fred! I can't wait to go to something like that!

I can't open pdf files with this dinosaur laptop, but you can find Young People in AA meetings and events if you call your local intergroup office or do an internet search!

Summer is here, lots of conventions are around!!

Also look for Acts Of Recovery--it's a summer and a winter meeting with several people giving talks. Free, too!

Thanks sugar. I saw a lot of young people last night. I do enjoy the meetings with the older folks a lot though because they are so wise.
