Question Help / advice please - Hepatic fibrosis

I was told yesterday that my liver ultrasound scan shows changes suggestive of hepatic fibrosis. This was performed due to a persistent elevation of my ALT enzyme. I need to go for a biopsy. What I have read seems to oscillate from Doomsday like scenarios for me to relatively hopeful outcomes with abstinence and possibly newer "antifibrotic" therapies. I am a bit shell-shocked as this comes on the back of a succession of problems relating to my prior alcoholism- It doesn't seem to end !!! - I assume I am not alone.
Any input or links etc would be would greatly appreciated
Thanks DD

I have no experience at all to share but I wish you the best Donut

Just as a general rule, I'd go with the hopeful outcomes - the liver is an amazing organ and a little TLC from us with what we give it to do can work wonders

Why not try an extensive search, then call the doctor to find out what options are available?

thanks sugarbear - i have read a lot on the net but it has left me more confused as the prognosis given seems to vary widely- i can't see my GP for a week so was hoping that someone may have had personal experience with this
thanks again

Dr. Google is full of all sorts of things..please wait and ask your
doctor what is best for you before jumping into anything....
It's only a week and then you will have a solid plan for healing..

Hope all works out well for you..

I suggest you go to a meeting a day until your next Dr appointment.

DONUT, you are just like me .... my own worst enemy !!

(like Dee said, the optimistic attitudes are the same price as the doomsday ones.
Far different quality of life though.......
Worry doesn't solve or resolve anything, it just gives power to the perceived problem.)

I have stage 2 liver disease with fibrosis and have been in great health for the last 20 years since I quit drinking. You must never drink again and you'll live well.
The biopsy procedure nowadays is painless,I had one 8 years ago, don't worry about that.
You must get to AA and get involved because your mind will tell you at some point in time that you can drink again....just a little.......and we will lose you.
