Another one lost

God I hate these kind of posts but I am doing this with the permission of the family, and the hope that someone gets a wake up call.

My old drinking buddy Andy lost his battle with the bottle yesterday. He was 53. He left behind both parents, several siblings and a bunch of nieces and nephews. It has to be hard to see your son die.

If you want to quit, please seek help - I don't give a damn what proram you use. I have seen too many of my friends die from this crap. In all honesty it ought to be me :(

Sorry for the macabre post but we all need to face the reality of this disease, or whatever you want to call it.

Condolences Dgillz. This kind of thing is never easy, but at the very least Andy's family can stop actively suffering and let the grieving process begin. As for your friend, take some comfort in knowing he is at peace now, finally resting after having withstood a long struggle.

My heart goes out to you amigo, and to his family.

If you stay in AA for sometime as I have, you will see many tragedies and you will also see many successes. It can be frustrating because you know what the solution is,but they won't take the actions we must take to recover....go to AA,get a sponsor, work the steps, get involved in service.
