Hello everyone! I figured I'd update this thread since I was reading it and keeping that day 1 of hell in my mind. Tomorrow is day 28 I'll be celebrating that with a trip to a mental health facility with an outreach program that my AA group does. Thursday mornings we hold a meeting there and Friday evenings we do a meeting of Big Book study at a Group home/halfway house that has taken alcoholics and addicts off the streets.

My sponser says it's good volunteer work to "get out of myself", quite frankly it is awesome to reach out and do something that might help others.

What a different world I am in 4 short weeks later. I have a long road ahead that will be traveled one day at a time.

Just keep going and doing what you're doing. Go to the meeting and get a sponsor. I was desperate when I crawled through the doors of AA and took every suggestion. Why not? After all my thinking led me to being a disgusting drunk. It was the fellowship of the program, the support of other who had been where I was, that got me sober and keeps me going 20 years later.

UPDATE.

Just read your recent report of going into a rehab. WOOOO- WHOOO. Be gentle with yourself. You're on the right road.
