I'm back!

Fell off the wagon after a week and a half of sobriety... started with just 3 beers one night, and turned into a week long bender...

I notice when I contribute to the forums here, I'm much more positive of a person, and I look forward to talking with many of you again...

Here's to sobriety... forever this time.

Hey DD glad to have you back, you can still join us in the Marchers in my opinion I think it has less to do with when you quit and more to do with the begining of the desire to quit. You still got it.

What are you going to do differently this time?
What lesson(s) did you learn?

Wishing you the best.

As I said, the bender started off from 3 beers. Considering, the fact that I used to polish off a liter of liquor within a day, I didn't think it would affect me.

I thought that I could control myself, and that those 3 beers wouldn't affect me negatively.

I was wrong, and I now know that. As much willpower as I think I have, I am ultimately powerless when it comes to alcohol. Which has been told to me before, and should be obvious, but I never had a real good example of this.

What am I going to differently? I don't know just yet, I think I'm going to have to spend more time in here... when I'm on the computer, there will certainly be a window opened with SR. I find the community of SR to be very inspirational, and I find the format of this bulletin board to be a very effective method of understanding and retaining the stories that people share, as opposed to maybe group therapy, where it's easy to become distracted by a number of things. The anonymity of the internet helps to prevent me from predispositions.

Many of us had false starts on our way to solid sobriety...
I certainly did.
I never thought this was a true statement tho my fellow AA members
often said..."It's the first drink that gets you drunk again"
Yes...it proved true for me too. Sooo...I stopped having that first one.

Welcome back...

Well, DD, if it gets really bad you could try AA.

All the best to you.

[QUOTE=2granddaughters;3356220]What are you going to do differently this time?

I'm not sure this is the best question to ask when someone returns to drinking, "what lesson did you learn?" The only lesson I learned the many times I returned to booze, was that it was killing me. But that never stopped me from drinking again and again.

The first drink is like turning onto the freeway. The next exit is miles away.
