For me that uncontrollable drive to drink has been gone for a while. I can't remember exactly when it went away but maybe somewhere in the first couple of months. I no longer have an innate desire to drink. Thoughts of drinking slowed down too. But it took awareness to turn them from thoughts that need my attention to thoughts that are no longer relevant. But doubt of whether I have an addiction has been completely removed. That struggle is over.
