300 days today

300 days sober today! Two nights ago... I had a drinking dream. That I drank three beers and I felt really bad when I woke up. Thought that I screwed it all up by doing that. But, after awhile I realized it was a dream. Since then I've been having really good, exciting dreams unrelated to drinking.

Does this mean anything or just something that happens?

Thanks!

I'm 430 days sober and I still have the occasional drinking dream. I use to have them several times a week when I first got sober. They were so disturbing to me. I would wake up terrified, and then become immediately relieved that I had not been drinking. My therapist assured me this is normal, so I don't worry about it so much any more. I think we are just exorcising a bit of the left over demon.

Well done! I get drinking dreams all the time when sober, just your sub conscious playing up.

Way to go on 300! I still get drinking dreams at 500. Sometimes I take the drink, and oddly enough, sometimes I don't.

Congrats on 300 days T1234 :)

I think dreams are just dreams, myself...I've never worried about them or attached any special significance to them myself :)

Good on the 300. How long does it take for the anxiety to settle.

Congrats T. I had some just this last week, I rarely remember my dreams, but these were pretty vivid with drinking\smoking going on. I was so relieved when I woke up and coming up on 200 days on Easter Sunday. :) Best wishes.

When we dream, things feel very different (obviously). For alcoholics/addicts, that kind of "I feel weird" state is associated with drug/alcohol use, and so it makes sense that while dreaming we might interpret that as drunkenness. I don't know if that's what actually happens, but it's one possible explanation.

But yes, it happens to me from time to time.

It's even more awesome when you live
your recovery program everyday in ur
everyday affairs and when you have a
dream where alcohol comes into play
you're program is working there too.

Ive had a few dreams where my program
came forth to say no when offered or explain
why alcohol is poison or share my own ESH
to another in that dream.

I wake up smiling with joy just knowing
my recovery program is working even as
I sleep. :)

It's pretty cool.
