I got confused with another thread on that one. Some guy in AA told the poster that Cialis is a slip because it’s “mood altering”. BS.

Ridiculous!

So what, it's mood altering because it allows guys to get laid? Lol

There's a delicate balance with dudes and ED when they get older and go sober. I'm 45 now...42 when i got clean.

A lot of medication can cause ED and sometimes the side effect isn't even listed as such.

When I first got sober, I was put on a medication that messed with my ability to finish. So it had to go.

After and before that I've never had any issues. My drive actually picked up a good bit when I got sober.

Maybe he's working through some difficult emotional issues as well.
That brain drama can really mess with a dude's ability.

A physical might not hurt either. When I got clean, i had all sorts of vitamin deficiencies.

Yes - I had an adjustment period myself, think it just makes sense physically - for so long your body and mind and libido have existed in drunken nights and hungover mornings. The chemical balance needs to right itself and recover. Felt just lack of sex drive in general. Things have changed though, so I think it's a temporary thing for those of us who finally get sober.

No idea of I would have struggled in early sobriety...I didn't go near anyone for 3 or 4 years as I was struggling more with emotional dysfunction

I had some issues a few years ago...it sucks but it's a fact of biology.

As for comments about 'AA' or individual members somehow disparaging cialis...I have literally never heard someone discuss ED anywhere near a meeting. I've spoken to a handful of members about it on rare occasions if theyvtrustvme enough.

I think it's a huge shame when one off instances like this become apocryphal stories that people repeat on the internet ad infinitum...usually having heard them 2nd or 3rd hand. A lot of folks have personal grievances with what they *think* AA is...and devote an awful lot of time to trying to confirm that bias. I wish that didn't happen.

You make a good point paulokes. I will be more careful about which stories I repeat, but I do hear an awful lot of similar stories about meds and AA, some directly from AA members in meetings. It seems the 12 step doctor is a real phenomenon.

Thanks for all the great feedback on this issue.

For those of you who had this problem and got over it, how long did it last?

Like I said I can't speak to issues in early recovery but psychologically my libido was low in the first 2 or 3 years. I probably had 9 months of problems more recently used cialis to help. That side of my life is healthier than ever now.

I'm 41yo and was in decent, now in good shape. For me it lasted I think a month of so. To me the body needs to re-calibrate, maybe that's not scientifically provable but I think that's what happened for me.
