I went to an AA meeting last night

I occassionally go to AA meetings but I think it is good to check in there from time to time to keep myself in check. I noticed that there are still some people I recognize from last time I was there and meetings in the past. What I have gathered is that if some of these people even pick up 1 more drink they would be dead. This is there last chance and there grabbing hold of it. Is this the kind of idea everyone gets there that if they have 1 more drink that's it's goodbye.
I talked to one guy there and he said he was drinking vodca and has been sober 4 months and he started to get crippling sharp pains in his stomach and had to quit alcohol and found AA. He told me he had to quit his job and everything and he said it was a life or death situation so he went to AA. I find I get something out of every meeting I go to. A bit here a bit there but it all helps and glad I went.

Isn't great to always hear something you need to?

AA is "my daily bread" checkmate.

Wishing you the best.

Good for you for working on your recovery.

I find the same thing when I come here. I always take something with me when I leave that helps me to be a better person.

It's good that you are staying familiar with AA for the day may come when you want to go all in and become an active member.Alcoholism gets worse as time passes,it's a progressive condition that never lessens. It will destroy everything worthwhile in life if you allow it to go unchecked.

I have to agree with winslynn....Why not get a sponsor and find out what AA is all about....And work the 12 Steps...The program of recovery...It's a pretty amazing journey...

desperation

Thanks for the post. I too have noticed that many of us that have been around awhile do have one common denominator. Desperation in our stories.
the willingness to go to any length has and continues to grow out of desperation.
