Dinner With Friends

Hi guys,

Just sharing an experience here. I love to have friends over for dinner (I'm an big cook) but the thing is that those dinners always got pretty boozy. Today I've invited some school friends over to a late afternoon Sunday feast. Since it's on a Sunday and we all have a lot of work to do, I know nobody is coming with the expectation to get shitcanned. It's really important to keep up my social life and be with my friends even in sobriety so this is just a little trick of timing I'm playing on them

On the menu is Minestrone alla milanese and pork crostinis! Bon appétit and happy sunday everyone!

x

Dinner was a success, guys! Everybody stuck with sparkling water and a few friends ended up hanging out and watching a movie on TV afterwards. Day 22 sober was great The next hurdle is a birthday dinner on Tuesday. Getting geared up to have fun without champagne. x

Glad dinner was a success. Do your friends know that are trying to quit drinking?

Congratulations on your 22 days. I'm at 15 and am worried about these dinners as well.

Have you told your friends?

Nope haven't told anybody except my boyfriend yet. I am planning on telling people on the 28 day mark (Sunday). Stubbornness is my nature, I don't tell anybody anything unless I'm sure I can do it first.

Telling people is tricky. I'm saying I'm dieting, but this time around it's not because I'm embarrassed. It's because it's no one's business. Things are different this time.

An interesting thing that I noticed after I stopped drinking was that people didn't drink as much, if at all, when we hung out together. I think maybe I so fixated on MY drinking that I just assumed everyone was drinking as much as me when in reality they never were.

Congrats on a successful party! I absolutely love to cook and entertain too! We have some lucky friend, 'eh??
