I would be drinking right NOW

It's 3:41 pm here, and this time in the afternoon is when I would normally start drinking beer and smoking continuously until I fall asleep around midnight. Today is the first day in a very, very long time that I am not going to do that. Would it be too annoying if I just hung-out here on the forum, instead?

I was there.

You know what. It's been a long long time since i sat around and got drunk but the thought sometimes passes past my mind to ge wasted but ijust don't want to feel like crap anymore.

I mean lets face it, most of us quit because we felt like crap.

Not at all! Please, hang around and read and post as much as you want. This place saved my life and I know it can do the same for you. So glad to have you on board!

The best thing about this place for me is being around people that don't want to drink. When you go to other forums everyone is so pro-drinking.

I agree. It's 9.54pm here now Sat night. This is my 6th Saturday night sober and you do get used it it! Stay up later, sleep well and wake up sober and happy (usually!!)-even if I'm in a bad mood or tired it's better than coupled with a hangover!

This site is a Godsend too.

Happy sober Saturday and Sunday everyone

Thanks, Sapling, I'm feeling a bit anxious and itchy right now. I'm waiting for my husband to come home, and the first thing he usually does is grab a beer and light up a cig. He will go smoke outside, though, since I Febrezed the place today. He is bringing me some lime-flavored sparkling water

I am right there with you Wonderland! I NEED this forum..some days more than others! Today is one of those I REALLY need it! I am at the point in sobriety that I just don't know what to do with myself sober when I am not working. I have faith I will get there! Today though I am thankful to just sit at home and be here sober!

welcome to SR Wonderland!
come join us in chat some time! there's nearly always somebody in there - especially at night sometimes we're just plain silly, but we can be very serious as well if needed/wanted - i'm glad you're here!

Nice Poe quote
Hubby is home now, still no drinking (well, drinking berry tea). Eating some snacks. So far, so good!

Once you get to sleep you know you'll wake up better feeling than when you when to bed. That cannot be said for the people that get all drunk on this Saturday night. So know you are in the right no matter what mood you might find yourself in tonight.

Congrats, Wonderland, on your decision to get sober! I'm almost to 50 days now, and feel great. The first couple of weeks can be rough, but once you put in some time you'll find it gets easier to stay sober. Good luck!

Also, to echo what everyone else has already said, SR is a great place to hang out and look to for support while you're working on your sobriety.

Just think of all the drunks at the bar doing things they wouldn't normally do and all the cigarettes and wasted cash all over the place.

There are many people in prison for acts committed while drunk. I heard of a story a guy got in a bar fight and bit another man's nose off. he got so many years behind bars he won't see daylight.

If must feel nice not to be involved in that behavior.

True. I would normally just stay at home and drink myself to sleep, though

I did that too a lot. What a waste. We poison the hell out of ourselves just to shut our eyes. Our liver, instead of doing what it's supposed to do spends the whole night filtering your blood so you don't die.

It's a form of self mutilation if you ask me.

Been here for 271 make that 272 days. Actually, I've been here for several years, I just read for most of them with a different alias. Forgot my password and alias and came in as sugarbear this time!

Stick around and stay stopped!
