Been drinking
Been drinking
Man it just seems like I don't know how to do anything else. Last four days have been drinking every night, I went through about 16 Heniken tall boys yesterday and this afternoon when I finally woke up I just went to the store to get some more because I knew the eight that I had left wouldn't be enough. Not looking for pity just wanted to put it out there.

Yeah I have to cover this every post, I would actually like to go to an AA meeting but it isn't an option I live in Africa, no AA meeting to be found. I didn't tell people where I was before because I was on my work computer but yeah. I would actually like to go to one, if I take vacation to the states this summer I will look one up.

There's AA in Africa, it's all over the world.
You telling me that there aren't any drunks in Africa? No recovery?
This might be an excellent opportunity to start a meeting in your area then.
I can't keep doing the same things and expecting different results, the only differences I experienced was that things kept getting worse.
INH, I wish you the best with your recovery from alcoholism.

I know that I felt the same way at first... and, you know what? I didn't know how to do anything else... I had some learning to do.
Learn how to get past this. AA is a good way. AVRT helps a lot of people...

INH.
I know AA isn't an option for you, but are there other alternatives? Perhaps AVRT? Do they have phone-in AA (if you're happy to try AA). AA isn't the be-all, end-all answer to sobriety, and don't let anyone pretend it is. It's a great way for a lot of people to get sober, but it doesn't mean that without you can't be sober!
What do you think made you slip up this time? What do you think you can do next time when the same situation comes up? Have you tried thinking of it as "One hour at a time"? Is there a chance for you to go to a doctor and talk to him/her about it? Perhaps some meds to help the process?
You can do this INH, I know you can. Don't give up on your life!

She realized. More. As much as possible. Whatever amount she bought would not be enough.
How much is enough?
We are in the grips of a progressive illness.
You are caught up in the compulsion to go buy more, and you keep doing it, and putting it your body.
You must stop buying alcohol.
It won't stop until you stop buying it, and pouring it down your throat.
Can you see this?
Pick a day. Stop. Pour whatever you have out. Rough it out for a few days like we all had to do, and change direction of your life.

Do you have the book Alcoholics Anonymous?
I have read of people with no meetings being able to utilize AA's program of recovery even if there were no meetings near them.
Joe and Charlie have an online Big Book Study that you could follow.
They say it's hard to quit drinking while drinking.
I know it feels like you "need" that beer. It's like, next...next, open the beer, another, another, another. I have been there.

INH - I have been following your recovery attempts since your "one week challenge" over a month ago. I'm sorry to see that things haven't gone how you have planned. I'm not one to sit here and give advice, so I will just let you know that you have been on my mind and that I hope things work out for you.

INH, there are lots of online recovery groups which focus on different methods of recovery.
If you wanted to go the AA route, there are members who sponsor people online to give one-on-one support, guide you through the material and the 12 steps, and share what they know from their experience gained by doing life sober.
I've seen that work out very well for people several times. Meeting are often terrific and useful in a variety of ways, but are not and cannot be, of themselves the answer that you need. You can recover without them with some commitment and work on your part. Since you'd be getting the program from the material, you'd likely wind up with a more solid answer than picking things up haphazard in f2f meetings. Could be a good thing for you.
Something to consider.

Hi INH!!! I really feel for you! Quitting is so much harder than staying sober! There are wonderful AA speakers online. I listen if I cant get to a meeting. Just google AA speaker tapes there are a few web sites. Its not the same as the support in a face to face meeting but at least you can start ASAP!!!! Im thinkin of ya!!!
