Religion, recovery, government, all seem to be easily co-opted by people who are more interested in the institution than the purpose of the institution. AA can be great for achieving and maintaining sobriety. Teaching comparative spirituality? Not so much, in my view.

Again, I find this to be a VERY interesting discussion!
But FOR ME, the bottom line is - that silly quote helped ME to stay sober. I can't explain, rationalize or justify it - it just is .
But I'm learning alot from reading all of this, so I'll keep "listening"!
