I feel so sad reading these posts. It brought back bad memories of my dead sister. I remember seeing her with most or all of these related problems.

I hope this thread helps many.

Hi,

The liver has no pain sensors. What hurts is when it gets enlarged and pressing on other organs.

I have gastric reflux & other stomach issues and--no surprise--the drinking did nothing but make it worse. The heartburn, stomach pain, cramps, grumbling the day after was pure torture.

Drinking also gave me the puffy bloated face and fingers, horrible headaches, and bone tiredness, because, though I would pass out sleeping initially after drinking, I always woke up after 2 hours or so and was up the rest of the night.

Insane to sit here and list these things in black and white...why on earth did I keep going back?

I hated the headaches every morning. I hated the bloating. Alcohol made my face really red and burst blood vessels in my face. When I see others complexions like this, I realize they have a problem drinking too..

Say no more F355, say no more. A not unexpected benefit of not drinking this side too

WAIT, what's the "Dangerous Game"? Haha, seriously... I'm sure I knowww, but I've never heard the actual term.

Anywho.

-Gray, dry skin + acne
-Hunger (I wouldn't eat if I knew I was partying, because "food will absorb the alcohol" and waste the drink
-Damn bruises that determined my outfits for the next week or two..
-Numbness
-Vomiting became a daily ritual, hangover or not
-The morning-after-drinking breath -_- eew.

I got a DUI with a .24 BAC and went on a major binge for 3 weeks before I had court, was drinking right up to 4 hours before I had to be there, still drunk, got thrown in jail and yeah the diarrhea detox was so bad the other guy in my jail cell wanted to kick my ass (and he could have).

... and all of the above... never experienced rashes though.

There were several times when I would try to slam a beer in the morning to get rid of the withdrawal feeling and vomit in random places cause my body just didn't want it.

Great thread. I actually woke up with a peice of broken tooth in my mouth from having a seizure. Think that stopped me from drinking? Nope. I remember trying to walk through the store to buy more wine the next day. My left leg was so numb I couldn't walk. I hallucinated often. My hands shook when I woke up in the morning. I fell down the stairs at least once a week. I stopped looking in the mirror because I never recognized what I saw anymore. FUN!

Great thread, and great reminders of why we should stay sober.

I'm with you guys on the puffy/bloated face; it's really kind of a unique bloating that you only see in alcoholics/heavy drinkers. After a binge, I would be utterly USELESS for at least a few days after; often, it took me a week to fully recover my motivation and appreciation for things.
Never had much issues with vomiting (somehow), but definitely LOTS of nausea/blood sugar fluctuations the day after. The never ending thirst was also incredibly annoying. Add to that the 'usual' (only for an alcoholic) feelings of crushing depression, anxiety, uselessness, etc, and I was not a happy camper.

During my last binge my feet started going numb, got cold clocked at the bar (some dude thought I was hitting on his girlfriend) and a nasty scar over my eye to show for it, then 2 days later flew to Vegas for a Concert, made an ass of myself and got escorted out of Mandalay Bay in a wheelchair, after I spilled Jager all over me.

I also still have the calluses on my right hand from opening so many beer bottles.

Still not where I want to be, switched to 3% beer, gave up the hard stuff and pills of any kind. Towards the end I'm surprised I made it out alive. Everyone told me I lost all my skin color, my eyes had a shade of gray in them, and I looked .... almost dead. Never want to go back to that place!

Noticed a few mentioned legs would get numb..

My left leg and middle toes would occasionally get numb after a heavy night of drinking. What causes this?

For me the honest worst was when flying home from a business trip, I would wake up and have no energy. I was basically drunk, hungover, exhausted, dehydrated, hungry, confused, all at the same time. Honestly, the thing that sounded the absolute worst was to shower, pack, grab a cab and go through security at an airport. I would usually take another drink and get to the airport. I would then feel an extreme sense of guilt as I saw all these polished people enjoying their morning coffee and newspapers, while I looked for the nearest bar to get numb before my flight. I was also hungry as all get-out, but didn't ever eat because I didn't want to deal with the gastrointestinal issues that were sure to follow. I would get home to my family that was excited to see me and I would have to fake being happy because all I wanted to do was sleep. Drinking on the road would turn into a three day bender for me before I would get my bearings and cut down.

It makes me sick to even read that post.

How things have changed since I quit drinking. I now get up around 4 am before my flight and go for a run before getting ready and heading to the airport. I feel refreshed and eager to see my family once I step out of the hotel. What is funny/sad is that each time I fly I see my "old self" lurking around the bar airports. I always see one or two people that look like they are in alcoholic hell getting a few drinks to get them through their day.

I was a bloated, clammy mess. But the worst thing about my body was that it had somehow become attached to the head of a bitter and selfish person.

The worst and most scarey was being jolted awake from my POUNDING heart. Always made sure I had beer on hand for the headaches, shakes etc. If I was working, I would set my alarm to go off earlier so I could have a few extra before heading out. Boy oh boy, the things we do.

Had to come here and read this thread again....been over a year and was just thinking I wanted to drink again today..missed the warm, numbing feeling.
All that crap that goes with it - yeah - NOT worth it!
