One week sober :)
I have been drinking myself to sleep nightly for the past 3 1/2 years (never during the day) mostly due to myself having pretty bad insomnia. My poison was 99% of the time a half pint of vodka and around 5 beers. My question is, it's been a week, and I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms (except for insomnia) and I quit cold turkey. No shakes, no nothing. Is this normal?
Thanks for any help

Like you I drink only in the evenings or well except for a couple of occasions latley. I know that I didn't have much in the way of withdrawl symptoms a little bit of the shakes but not all that noticable, otherwise I was fine except like you, I couldn't sleep. But then again I have yet to get a whole lot of time under my belt and either.
EDIT: I forgot to say congragulations on your week!

Pat, welcome to SR!
Congrats on a week!
I had terrible withdrawals but I bet I am quite a bit older than you with several decades of heavy drinking until full blown alcoholism. If I had quit for good just five years ago I would have had very little.
If you quit in time before the worst starts to happen my hat is off to you. Don't ever go back!

Fantastic, good job
Im 1 year 5 months and 10 days sober, and today 99 days off crack. For this entire time I havent been able to identify and physical symptoms that I would call withdrawals. Great job, before you know it, you'll be 2 weeks, then 3 weeks..... Merry Christmas
Like others have said, everyones different Pataki - there's always a range of individual factors involved.
Sometimes my withdrawal was nothing, sometimes it was crippling.
That is actually a lot to drink - so I'm glad it wasn't too bad for you

It sounds like it might be for you. For now.
But I guarantee you that it will change.
I drank beer and vodka too . . . been there, done that, not going back.

so does that mean im going to die in the next week or something? lol
Congratulations on a week - that's fantastic!!
I also didn't suffer any withdrawals either (I drank at least 1 bottle of wine every night). Just count your lucky stars that you were fortunate enough not to suffer the horrendous withdrawals that some do. But.... don't make the mistake I made (first time around) by thinking that, because I suffered no withdrawals, then I couldn't possibly be an alcoholic! Everyone is different. Next time you (and I) may not be so lucky.

No one knows.
Now the alcohol abuse may not catch up with you that quickly, but when drunk, you might step off the curb into the path of an oncoming bus.
