Am I an alcoholic?
Vivjourney, your situation at your first post was very familiar to me as I was a functioning heavy drinker, and I think I knew it was out of control when I couldn't go more than a night without drinking on my own. I've been sober for almost 12 weeks now and I feel great in the mornings, but truthfully I haven't lost the yearning for a glass of wine at times. Going to this website helps me stay strong.
My thought about the way you originally described your drinking was that it would still cause long term damage to your body and brain. It was also enlightening reading from the others that it gets worse in stages, so by now I guess you know you've done the right thing by quitting. All the best.
