don't know what to do -scared-

hi SR, atm in time I'm scared amd don't know what to do... I'm 24 and have 3 children at 5 3 and nearly 7months. Last night I said to my bf and his cousin I'm gonna take a pregnancy test for a laugh (boredem) , I left the test on window sill in my bathroom left it for abit, before I went bed I decided to check it to find it looked like it had a faint line on the pregnancy strip both my bf and his cousin could see the line to, I went to bed thinking WTF and felt sick. Today my bf got me another home pregnancy test also with that test same as last nights.

I am scared today I felt sick had bit of an headache ... I came home from my bfs aunts after goin out for few hours to her house, I started getting pain in my right groin I looked it up it said it happens I pregnancy so now I'm wondering am I due another little bundle next year or is it just my body, I don't know if I'm ready for another lil baby but then again it'll be mine and my bfs faults for not using protection.

Dawnie,

How is the sobriety going? You might want to get to a Doc to check you out to be sure.

hey dom, I'm on 30th night of being sober, I don't dare go docs not yet anyway I'm gonna do another test first thing (first pee of the day) and see what that comes up with.. I think mostly why I'm scared is coz of labour I had 2 hour labour with my lil boy but he was the biggest of the 3 weighing 8lb 8oz, and as I was pushing the cord got wrapped round his neck and it scared livin days out of me

Congrats on 30 days Dawnie :bounce

I'd see your Dr - that way you can be sure, and hopefully put your mind to rest

Congratulations on 30 days and -- ready or not -- you are 99% pregnant. There is a 1% chance of a false-positive with those tests and thats usually due to a hormone imbalance in women much older than you.

See a doc soon and lay your cards on the table and put your mind at ease!

I'm not an expert but the 99% assertion prompted me to do some digging.

Some tests are apparently more sensitive than others.
My home pregnancy test showed a faint line. Am I pregnant? (referenced)

Depends if you followed all the instructions too, which you may not have Dawnie if you were doing it for a laugh?

The probability may be considerably less than 99%.
See your Dr, Dawnie.

"I'm gonna take a pregnancy test for a laugh (boredem)"...

Seriously? You take pregnancy tests for fun? You purchase the kit and leave it sitting around in case some day you get bored and want to relieve the tedium by...taking a pregnancy test????

Who are you kidding? You have 3 children already; stop and think a bit.

WTG on the 30 days!

If I were you I'd quit wasting money on those home preg tests and just go to the doc to get a straight answer. It's awesome you've been sober for so long and will be able to make clear decisions and take good care of your kids in the future. Don't stress out so much...realize that if you are preg, you're sober too, which is a good thing!

I truly don't know about it being 99% accurate either but i heard 2 different Drs from 2 different offices say exactly that. I wonder if the actual % is buried in the fine print?? Wife and I have had 3 kids in the last 5 years so it's relatively fresh info.

Another number the Drs mentioned in a cautionary tone was 25% of pregnancies "fail to thrive" and often the mother is completely unaware of either being pregnant or losing the pregnancy. That may explain why most practices won't test for again for a number of weeks after the home test

Really really see a Dr and I wish you the best. Forums are obviously not good for medical advice OR statistics!!

Another thought is that the results should be read within a certain period of time as reading the results too soon or too late can also lead to false results.

I suggest getting a urine test or even a blood test from a medical professional if you think you may be.

Meanwhile, congrats on 30 days now.

Hugs,
Kellye

I'm in no position to think I can advise someone I don't know on having children, how to live their life, how to approach having another child (or not) and so forth. I'm not a therapist and I don't want to lie to myself and pretend to be one.

Probably best to seek out some professional help though, like ASAP.
