I know what you mean about the willpower thing but getting some sort of tool to help you apply willpower is a necessity. You can give AA another try or there are other wonderful resources for people who want to go the more solo route; like SMART (smartrecovery.org) or Rational Recovery (there's an AVRT thread here in Secular Connections).

here in Baton Rouge, La.. Ever visited the south before?
I hope the weather is nicer where you are with
lots of sunshine and mild weather. For us it's a
little over cast and mild as we wait for Winter to
