And so it begings
I am new to this community and have been finding the posts both informative and uplifting. I have been reading all the posts in here for the last couple days after a few really bad nights.
I finally did it today. I went to my Dr. and spilled the beans. It was a great feeling and I was completely honest with everything, including how much I am drinking. We made a plan and I started it. After the appointment, I went outside and vomited. I think that was the nerves and relief. I am terrified but ready to kick this habit.
Thanks to all of you who are positive and encouraging. I just wanted to say, you are helping more people that are lurking behind their screens, as I was.

Three of my biggest reasons to stay sober are my three dogs. I like to be sober to give them the good care they deserve and need.

Hi Rottie! It's great you found us, & we're so happy to have you here.
I know it's scary in the beginning - but far more terrifying to stay with that crazy way of life we drinkers become used to. I love SR because I'm never alone, any hour of the day or night. We're always here to support you. Keep talking to us & let us know how it's going.

Thank you all! I feel such comfort here and I haven't found that any where else. My husband is here for me but he doesn't quite get it because he doesn't have the problem I do. I am happy to have found you all too! And yes, I love dogs!

It's great that you talked to your doctor - that's not an easy thing to do! I think most of us are really scared at first, but it gets better and easier as you go along.
I didn't even want to quit when I first came here, but now I wouldn't go back to it for anything in the world. Stick around..... you can do this!
