The $ cost of drinking! Eeeep!
The $ cost of drinking! Eeeep!
I just did a rough calculation of what my addiction cost me last year:
Average of US $15 a day, every day = $5,475.00
Aside from everything else it cost me -- which were enormous prices to pay personally -- this was an eye opener.
<smh>

I try not to focus on the dollar amount because I get depressed thinking about it. The alcohol I drank was pretty cheap but the hospital bills, lawyers, fines, loss of job ect... was devastating.
oh my lord... if I ever calculate the amount I spent on booze alone, I'm gonna have to up my daily dose of antidepressants.
the worst part being that in a way, it was like paying for a very expensive coffin. or a strait-jacket. whatever was about to catch up with me first.

Oh my!!! I overdrew my account during my last 2 weeks of drinkng..was spending about $50 + a week on wine. Partially what drove me to stop too...I usually pay everything on time but was in a fog and started losing track. I wish I would've stopped sooner but hey, we gotta learn when we're ready!

I dont know about anybody else but i got REALLY good at finding bargains and by buying in bulk I was managing to go through 15 500ml cans of 8.5% beer a day and was doing it for around £6 a day.
so in a week id be looking at about £42 as I didnt go to pubs at all I justified the cost by saying that would be one night at a pub spending £4 a pint.
Even so £42 a week is not loose change and is a staggering £2184 a year which is a decent foreign holiday for two weeks.
Today I went to the Nike clearance online store and bought the Bentley of all running jackets reduced from £184 to £66 with a voucher code i had, Id never have afforded that whilst i was drinking or even contemplated the purchase, and Its the equiv of 11 days beer money.
Having extra £££ around is one of the top perks of being sober.

I used to drink only expensive vodka (grey goose, absolut, skyy) and whisky (JD, Black Label, Chivas, etc). I could easily burn like $500 at monthly basis. I'd be rich now If I had all money I used on booze. I feel like a complete idiot, sometimes I want to punch my face with brass knuckles when I think about the amount of money I wasted on my miserable drinking carreer.

Here beer comes in 24 packs, or 6 packs. A 24 pack costs about the same as 3 6 packs. So for a heavy drinker it would make sense to buy 24 packs right?
Not me, I always bought in 6 packs because if I bought a 24 pack I'd just end up drinking more. If I had a dollar for every time the liquor store attendant told me I'd get better value buying 24 packs I could retire now.
Before recently, let's say last year's average -
$60 a day, american currency.
I was only 24 last year... they say this is a progressive disease... if it progressed from last year into this year financially speaking, I would be DEAD-BROKE if not literally dead.
Luckily I managed to cut it down from that to less... but less is still too much... that's why I need to cut it down even further to $0 per day, every day.
