day 9, feeling alright

Hey everyone. Starting day 9 of sobriety and I'm really starting to feel good about it. Thursday night, I went out to a concert at a bar for my birthday and made it through without drinking! It was tough, the band kept taking breaks to take shots and stuff, so I had to bolt immediately after the band finished, but aside from that made it out unscathed. That really made me feel stronger. I haven't had a sober birthday since I was probably 17. The cravings have been a lot easier the past few days, usually on my way home from work, but I've been able to get past them. It's such a good feeling.

Congratulations on 9 days :)

I avoided bars etc for a while - I needed to make some pretty definite changes in my life, at least until I was totally sure I was committed to sobriety.

Each to their own, but I reckon this sobriety thing is hard enough without sticking your head in the lions mouth, IMO....

minorthreat,

Good job on your sobriety! Glad you made it through the show w/out drinking!
If you have to bolt, bolt. Do whatever it takes to remain sober!

Keep going!
