Fourth Day and craving bad.
Fourth Day and craving bad.
Ok, so it is my fourth day sober, and I have been enjoying every minute of it, especially in the morning when I wake up feeling great. I have been interacting with my daughter sooo much more too. For some reason though, I just still have the craving badly. I have been doing well, so I know the obvious answers, it is just frustrating. Usually by now on a Saturday I would already have about a six pack down. Maybe I am just being overly obsessive. I need to just clean the house. Again. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.
Hang in there, the first week it's very easy to get overexcited about being sober. The alcoholic mind is thinking: "Hey, this wasn't so bad, I can quit whenever I want, so why not celebrate it with a few drinks?"
But on day 4 the cravings are still a part of the withdrawal.

It's good that you came here and posted instead of drinking. Keep doing that. It will help. Do you have any face-to-face support? Someone you can call or go spend some time with to get your mind off booze? Cravings don't last that long and if you can occupy your mind with something, they'll subside. The more you do that, the less often they'll pop up and the less intensity they'll bring.
You can do this!
You can do this!
Yes, I have many of support outlets, thank goodness. I think the real issue is the habit of it. Its out of my norm not to have a beer in my hand at this day and time of the week. However, I really appriciate the support that I get here, so I would much rather post than drink :o). Thanks!!!

Yes, the habit part of it was a big thing for me, too.
My evenings were watching a movie with a glass of wine. I stopped watching movies for awhile and got back to reading. It helps break the habit when you shake up your routine a bit.
Good for you for getting through this.

Tyl3r, the absolute desire to quit drinking completely happened 4 days ago, because I am sick of drinking a case of beer every night. Im just through with it, it has done nothing but harm to me.
SD, Thanks for the input! I will keep that in mind. :o)

you are doing really well 4 days!
The hardest days are the early ones and starts slowing down.
you need to learn tools for when AV hits you.
You can learn a lot in SR and any time you are getting to the edge please do come here. We will be with you!
You will need maybe to change your routines and avoid the situations you relate to drinking.
Avoid any drinking places for the time been is early stage for you!
Maybe start new jobies, sports, etc.
You got a doughter to fight for!
You are very fortunate hug her and
remenber you are not alone
