:: The Matt Maher Story ::
Reading this story tonight. I can relate. In just a few hours it will be 1 yr I lost my best friend because we drank and drove. I have to live with this everyday…it haunts me. I am not drinking anymore, but I want to.

"One of the saddest realities of our culture is that every forty-five minutes someone is killed by a drunk driver." (NATSA)

I am sorry about your best friend & my prayers go out to you.
Drunk driving can lead to tragic results & I get that. I wonder though how often MADD actually follows a DUI offender through the whole process. I mean from the time of arrest, through the sentence, probation & the process of getting the license back. I had to attend a MADD panel after my second DUI. Is it a requirement for MADD to attend an open AA meeting? The sad thing is that no matter how strict they make the laws they will never stop DUI's. Alcohol is a drug that alters peoples perceptions. Some folks may think that they are able to drive while others are impaired and just don't care. No license, no insurance, it doesn't matter some folks continue to drive drunk. My DUI's will be on my record for life. In 2035 if I get another DUI it will count as my third. This is just my side of drunk driving.
