Thanks to everyone who posted links to these talks.

Layla with her salty delivery was just what I needed yesterday morning, and I plan to make extensive use of these remarkable stories and guidance from now on.

The local AA clubs in Fargo/Moorhead record every single speaker they have, and put them on cd's. They then have a "give and take" bin where you can borrow them, and bring them back. I just never have the attention span to sit and listen to an hour long speaker, unless I am driving or mowing lawn with my ear muffs

search for: 5th Tradition or aa oldtimers or fourth dimension group - Bob. S. is great and if you search "a pre-history of aa" Bob S. has a free download of his book.

I'm having a Mark Houston marathon on a snowy Martin Luther King Day.
When I downloaded the speakers they would appear in iTunes, then I could sync my iPhone and the files would download to my iPod.
Now they don't appear in iTunes. My computer just plays the file. Or else I can't find the download. I need some more Mark Houston on my iPhone.

Is this making sense? Anyone else having the same problem?

I figured it out eventually. I also switched to a Mac so things are a little different. Now I have some new Mark Houston and Chris Raymer to listen to.

I like Layla, but she's an evangelical Christian who is really down on spiritual disciplines she doesn't agree with. Ok, if you want to do things straight out of the book, well that's what you're supposed to be doing. But the Big Book does say in Step 11 to look where religious people are right and see what they have to offer.
If you want to do only what's in the Big Book, great. If you're Christian and want to do some Christian prayers, great. If you're a Mark Houston and want to set up home altars, go to sweat lodges and monasteries, and become a Benedictine Oblate, great also.
The 12X12 also says the world's libraries are full of books on the subject of meditation.

Note: I should say if you want to do things like yoga, ect it is to be done in addition to, never instead of the directions in the book. That's Mark's disclaimer.

Hmmm.... I didn't hear that at all. I've got several other talks of hers and she speaks pretty openly about her heavy-duty Muslim upbringing and, from what I've heard her say, she's probably more open to other religious practices (just not at AN AA MEETING) than a lot of ppl I know. Sure, she's got her thing and she sticks to it but, from what I've learned about her, she did a LOT of searching....lots of it.

hehe.....I wonder if you've got a resentment against Evangelical Christians and maybe that's what led you to hearing what you heard??

Shoot me a PM if you'd like to discuss......
