Where does the fear come from?

This fear I have every morning, trying to figure out what happened or if my mind is playing tricks on me. I have been over recent months been feeling quite unwell and the fear gets more and more wild and out of control.
These things are very vivid and quite real in my mind, my worst one is recently wondering about murder, if and who I might have killed, an old man is in the front of my mind, why this man and why this fear, where does it all come from?
Obviously this is not true, but it tries to get me to believe it is!
Also this is very much worse as I get older, is this always the case?

Sorry to know you are going thru this....

Please do get professional medical assistance and be up front about your drinking patterns and these thoughts.

This is not part of my history...either as a drinker or a recovered alcoholic.

you might contact a cognitive behavior therapist and mention OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) to a doctor and mention your drinking history. it might not hurt to also do some research on the topic to see if this sounds like you.

I know for most of us, i always felt better when i realized there were other people out there who had other issues related to alcoholism.

While different I felt fear constantly when I woke up after drinking...I could never pinpoint where it came from. When I got sober I realized the fear came from alcohol.

Get help. It can get better.

I agree with BullDog. This is the kind of thing a professional therapist would know more about than us alki's.

Me too. But not to the extent that Scrub describes.

I've had that fear. Much of it was alcohol and the absurd fear stopped when I stopped drinking. I still have some fear, but it derives from stress and in perspective when I think it through.
