Lab Tests
Going in for lab tests tomorrow. Really nervous about it. Going in for liver and kidney function. Last time I drank was Jan 11 2011. I went in to the doctor back in Jan and they told me I had given myself Alcoholic Hepatitis. The doc told me with that it would go away as long as I didn't drink. Well I have not drank and have not had the urge to drink since then. I never really had had urges to drink throughout my drinking career, it was just what everyone else was doing, so I did as well. Im just very scared that I have hurt myself beyond repair. Since quitting drinking I feel TONS better and feel healthy. Over the last week or two I have had a little bit of lower back pain, mainly on my left side. Im worried that it is my liver being swollen or something. However I dont know why it would do that unless its starting to shut down or showing signs of severe damage.
Im just venting I guess, ill have the results monday sometime. Is there anything I should do tonight or not do in order to prepare for the tests tomorrow? Im not asking for medical advise, just personal experiences and support.
Thanx,

Well, one thing I learned in recovery is that worrying really doesn't change the outcome of things. My recommendation is to try to put your mind on other things. It will be what it will be.
I know; simple, but not easy. Chronic worry was something I had to work on for years and years.
I'd like to "plant" this thought in your head - by stopping drinking when you did, you did yourself a great favor and are no longer "feeding" the problem. It may seem to you like a no brainer to stop at that point, but I certainly know of others who continued drinking even when they were told they would DIE from it.
So give yourself an "Atta Boy" for quitting when you did; for following up with the doctor to check the progress of your health issue; and for making a commitment to not pick up again.
And, yes, your liver is on the RIGHT side

Well, it's not the kind of test you need to study for
If you have been sober for 7 months, I would imagine that the results are going to be better than they were in January. And if you stay sober, it's likely that they are going to continue to get better. Let us know how it goes.

I'm really glad you are having these tests done....
and I hope you told the doctor of your new pain.
It's good to know you did and are taking positive actions about your health.
Well done on your sober time...
