Day 2 here...Sleep was hard last night.
I'm starting day 2 of being sober. I found that last night I had an extremely hard time falling asleep. Can't remember the last time I went to bed sober. I must have been up until 1 am..finally started reading "Drinking, a Love Story" and it helped put me to sleep. Does anyone else have this problem?
Welcome SavingIsabella, Those first few nights sleep was rather illusive for me. I was in a detox sharing a room with several guys who snored but I doubt I would have slept much anyway. Congrats on making a decision to get sober, sleep should get better for you soon. Your body will probably start thanking you for not drinking soon and you'll feel better.
Keep pushing on, it's worth it! I, too, had quite a few days of bad sleep. I did get into a habit of knocking around until 1- 2am until I would force myself to go to bed. After a while my sleep got much better, and my body learned to be 'tired' so I could fall asleep quicker. I sleep really well each night now

When I was drinking heavily/daily I had major trouble sleeping.
I had two options basically - get so drunk that I just crashed out and slept right through, or get about an hour's sleep a night.
The former just wasn't possible on most days because I had a full time job.
So for about 6 months, Monday to Friday, I got about an hour's sleep a night. Still not quite sure how I managed some days to be honest.
This was mainly because every time I tried to lay down and sleep i'd get muscle spasms and heart racing, and would just have to sit up and turn the lights on.
After I quit/cut down, it took me a while to get used to sleeping properly.
Now i'm sleeping for several more hourse, but in all honestly I feel more tired than ever! I think the body needs quite a long time to get used to the adjustment, especially when it's not full of alcohol like it's used to being.

Thanks for the support guys, its so good to know I'm not alone. I hate that I can't just drink like a normal person, I drink and I drink and I drink. :/ I'm hoping tonight sleep comes a little easier.
