Ocean- Thank you so much for posting. That made my day. I want you to know that I am always open to talk with you privately if you need to. I'm going to need support through this as well.I too tried the two drink rule. It doesn't work.
Right now, the best thing is for me to be sober and focus on myself more.

Welcome Natalie.
Think of it this way, you've taken the first, and arguably the biggest, step in admitting your difficulties with alcohol. That's key to everything else that follows.
Once you've identified the problem, you can begin working on it.
I treated the people I loved with the utmost contempt and abuse when I drank, including my utterly perfect ex-girlfriend, who I never got to apologize to, as she died shortly after we broke up, a split which was due to my drinking. So stop now and let the people who you care about see the real you.
Take it easy and be strong. You're in good hands here.

I'm also 26 and struggling with alcohol addiction. I've been sober 17 days. I won't say I ruined my marriage, because it wasn't the right time for me to be married, but alcohol did play a major role in the destruction of it. We can certainly be "functioning" alcoholics and still have problems, I too have a full time job and a house, and a fiance. Maybe we can help each other, I seldom find people my age who are going through what I am. Good luck.

I'd love to help. 4 days sober! Last night I listened to a Jimmy Stewart movie on the radio, it was nice. It felt like I was young again, not needing a drink to go to sleep. I feel great today and I have noticed people complimenting me on my skin and I've already lost some weight. I feel amazing today. Day by day, right?

Natalie,
Welcome to SR, and congratulations on your time sober!
I was a Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde drunk. Sometimes I would just laugh and have a great time, other times I would fight, break things, etc.
Three and a half years sober now, and the thought of those days just gives me a shiver down the spine.
My point is that now you are not alone. There are many non-drinking lunatic drunks on this forum who will help you if you want the help!
Good luck, and again, welcome!
