18 months and relapsed

I had 18 months and relapsed. I went on a bender and cant stay sober. I was sober 2 months and started drinking again. Now I cant manage hours because im scared of withdrawals.

It's time for a fresh start. You had 18 months something must have got you there, and something got you back out again. Wise to be afraid of withdrawals, that's what doctors are for. Continuing to drink to avoid the Dts won't get you anything but in deeper.

Sorry you relapsed and are having difficulty...you came to the right place...SR has helped me tremendously. Have you considered AA for support as well? I have relapses in my history too...but we never have to go back to drinking again. Takes courage to share and am glad you are here at SR.

I've been there before. I used the rather dubious taper down method myself, but if you can't manage hours, you may want to seriously consider asking your doctor for a medical taper script. It can be done on an outpatient basis, usually takes 4-5 days, and the protocol is fairly standardized. If you are really out of sorts, though, your doctor will of course probably recommend something more suitable.

welcome to SR djx

I'm with Carol - also think a Dr is a good first step, especially if you're scared of withdrawals.

Welcome to the forums, sorry it's under these circumstances.
The previous posters hit it on the head, go see a doctor. It's gonna be rough, but you have done it before and you can do it again.

You are worth it. Do whatever it takes to get sober and stay sober.
Keep us updated!
