Arrested

4 years ago today I was arrested, for the last time. I was on a stolen Harley, covered in blood (someone elses), and coming off a several month long drinking and drugging binge. Seems that several counties and more than one state wanted me. I will never forget that feeling I had when the Cop lit me up. Fear, more than I had ever felt before, but then followed by a calm. I gave up that day, and it made me stronger than I could have ever imagined. I thank God and Bill for that. (in that order)

Sure does feel good. As for the "shock Value" of the title, Who doesnt like a good train wreck every now and then?

The title's an eye grabber alright and it kinda, sorta has a dual connotation...

The day you were arrested was the day you arrested your addiction... hmmmm, in any case

Heh.....I'm still a sucker for a good drunk-a-log once and a while

Congrats Stu..... amazing how far we can go once we finally surrender to it, isn't it? I share your experience with my last arrest.....fear at first......but followed by an interesting calm - like....ok, it's finally over.

I'm glad to know you and glad you made it......you'll be able to reach a lot of guys......guys who really need the help.

I try to get to as many as I can. By example and consistency. Out in the world is where sobriety is maintained, not meetings. Meetings keep you sober for an hour, my goal is the other 23. Just sayin...

Thanks. Prison was nothing compared to the Hell I was living in. Anyway, 8 more Fridays and I am finally a FREE MAN as far as the Florida Dept of Corrections is concerned. Woo Hoo!

Congrats. I agree that the jail time I've received in the past wasn't as bad as the hell I was living in the real world. I think it's important to hear "what it was like" sometimes.

I so relate to your post although my story is a bit different in that I was in a stolen SUV who I had taken from a guy who wanted a date if ya know what I mean?

So anyway I had dope on me, nowhere to go, and scared over this idiot so I justified stealing it when he went in to buy some beer. I asked him to leave the vehicle running as it was winter and cold out.

I'll never forget the picture of me jumping into the drivers seat and looking out and seeing him chasing me down the street.

This is how sick I was I even went to detox and parked it out front for 5 days while I tried to get clean.

The ending was so scary as I could have killed someone, or myself for that matter, because before I was arrested I had gotten loaded, went into a grocery store filled a cart and walked out without paying. Somewhere along the line I bounced off of a guard rail, and was missing all the tread on both front wheels, and I thought it was just a flat.

Anyway the short of it, Tribal Police came and got me, and I even lucked out then cause I only got one felony out of it, when I could have had 3 or 4 of them.

That was a little over 7 years ago thank God

stu,
congrats!!! what an inspiring story in your life. i like how you put that too. that you just gave up. i fight that still. wanting the power. wanting the control. your story is truly one of surrender. i applaud you.
