Did any have special insight or regress back in time drunk?
I know this is a wide open question. But here is what I mean.
Sometimes I felt I had a special insight when I was drunk. Like I knew the answers to questions I wasn't never even asked yet. It's almost like i found the answer but i had to figure out the question.
I used to play and still do sometimes war games online. Usually it's Germans against Americans. I just had this overwhelming feeling of being part of the German army or American army in WWII.
I often felt like i wanted to travel the world- drunk of course. I wanted to do everything drunk because it was just super fun.
What a trip alcohol is.

Alcohol is Cunning, Baffling, and Powerful. Some activities I did some odd 20 years ago while drunk I was successful at & not as successful sober...but I do not do those activities today because they are not conducive to my recovery. Today God has given me the gift of different creative healthy outlets as a sober person. In AA it suggest we change people, places and things in our recovery.
I can sure relate to the things you describe. It makes me think of my drunk times and some drunk periods were quite innovative in some way. Especially in the creative area, composing music was easy while experiencing a buzz. This also makes me think of the impact alcohol must have been, in the times when it was just discovered by our ancestors (dates go back to 10,000 BC). But at the end it's one huge destruction and ended too many lives, sadly... It isn't worth "the trip".

Yes, that does sound familiar. I solved several world problems while buzzing. Also, had some pretty decent ideas for stories and/or novels. Past 2-3 drinks... it all turned to drivel
So... if I could have managed to write an award-winning novel while on drink #'s 1 & 2... or finished the design on that solar/generator-powered car... then I guess I would have really accomplished something.
It didn't happen, so here I am...

I thought I came up with some of the greatest ideas known to man while drinking, the problem was I could never remember them the next day.
The few times I tried to write them down so I would remember I normally couldn't find the piece of paper I wrote on or I couldn't read the writing. When I finally found a scribble that was legible I realized the ideas were drunken pipe dreams at best and were more along the lines of something you might overhear from a homeless derelict lying in a gutter talking to himself.
I now truly believe alcohol makes you stupid, and when you are drunk you don't know any better.

When I am sober, I suffer from delusional thinking but I know it to some degree. When drinking, I don't see it at all. It is as if I have a double dose of delusional thinking.
No Jennie, it was pretty damn funny...and pretty eye opening as well! It also made me realize why it's so hard to argue with a drunk person, first because they are stupid, and second they think they are really smart and they know they are always right.
tooling,
i absolutely agree. i felt my biggest high from drinking was gaining all of the confidence that it gave me at the time. i really thought who i was and nobody could touch me. however, i lacked confidence completely. i was a horrible person to be around and i never even knew it until the end.

I used to think that vodka turned me into "the most interesting man in the world". I even have a nice beard But I realize now that vodka turns me into a bumbling fool. I wish I would have listened to my mother in regards to drinking.
I have found it interesting on the handful of times since getting sober that I have been around people drinking...they go from witty, interesting people to boors and idiots the more they drink. And they aren't even alcoholics!
I liked Supercrews post...I've got some of those scrawls hiddden away myself
