Finally Asked For Help

After attempting to quit on my own dozens of times I finally realized I couldn't do it on my own. I met with an addiction specialist who gave me a list of things I have to do and then met with an MD who took some bloodwork and gave me some libreum for detox. I going again in a week for more bloodwork to see if my liver enzymes have dropped enough to put me on subodone I'm also looking for the right program to work through. I intend to keep seeing the addiction specialist as well.
I guess this is the only reason I feel that it may be different this time. I'm admitting to people other than myself that I have a problem and that I neep help. Wish me luck.

Great that you are seeking professional help and advice. Are you addicted to both alcohol and opiates and this is why your doctor is suggesting suboxone?

If you have not been abusing opiates I would question any suggestion that you take suboxone as it is highly addicting and any use for more than 10 days will create a dependence. I have never heard of it being used for alcohol treatment alone and personally I would strongly advise against it ... not a doctor but that would be simply crazy (I am sure there is more to this story but big pharma and doctors do on occassion... do crazy things and so I being the big mouth that I am did want to point this out just in case).

GREAT to hear that you are seeking professional help and hope you seek out others who have walked in your mocassins... find a good support recovery group and you will get the benefit of lots of experience and encouragement.

Keep us posted and good luck...
