Help! Trying to fight withdrawal, NEED INFO!!

I've been battling alcoholism for 10years +, I had 45 days sober then I started relapsing. I just went on a very bad binge from Monday night July 4th until yesterday night Wednesday July 6. So 3 days of non stop drinking, Im wondering will the withdrawals be bad today? or not so bad since I only drank for 3 days and was mostly sober before that?

You need to talk to your dr about your plan to detox from alcohol because it can be dangerous. Did your dr prescribe the xanax for withdrawal symptoms?

I'm not going to give medical advice, but I'll just say that Xanax is not the best benzo for alcohol detox, and is not used for that nearly as often as other benzos, since it is a "potent, short-acting" benzo. They usually use "long-acting" ones for that.

"Google "alcohol detox protocol" for the usual procedure that is used in detox units and you'll see what I mean.

OP, in my experience, no. 45 days sober followed by 3 day binge would not cause physical withdrawal for me. Maybe a very minor one. Besides, you are in possession of xanax so no worries. That said, I am not a physician. I cannot provide medical advice. I'm just talking from my own experience.

Detoxing from alcohol can be dangerous.
I suggest talking to a doctor about the best approach.
You said you don't have a doctor as of now. Get one.

Good luck to you and welcome to SR!!

Benzos like that don't work, nor are they going to help change your habit.

It's important to not mix drugs w/ alcohol. With that commonality being said, I think you should seek help.

I was having horrible shakes earlier, my friend broke me a .5 mg benzo, not exactly sure what kind. My shakes have stopped, and I feel much better. I don't plan on abusing the drug. I just needed something to stop the pain. Which it did. Now I'm thinking much clearer

Taking a drug you know nothing about is so dangerous.
OK...now the shakes are gone.....drink a lot of water to flush out the drug
and get back on track with sober living....

My biggest worry is having the severe withdrawels when I was drinking everynight, then went on a 2 week night and day binge. I ended up in the ER and all sorts of bad. This time was just a 3 day bender. But I was sober for 45 days, Slipped, then a week after slipped again twice. Then was sober again for a week, and had this 3 day bender. I just fear of the dangerous withdrawals

Thank you carol! Your withdrawal symptoms post was very good. I remember this time around when I got sober I was hearing voices and all sorts of crazy stuff. The reason I'm so adament about this thread is that I fear I could have the same insane withdrawal after this 3 day binge. I hope not

Luckily I go to this free outpatient program in the city. I plan to go tommorow morning. Also I'm in a very serious relationship, which did cause me alot of stress and a big argument that led to a relapse after my 45 days. I want my girlfriend to learn more about my disease, so she can understand what I go through at times.

I suggest both of you check out your local AA open meetings and see if you find them beneficial.....

In the AA text book..Alcoholics Anonymous there is also a chapter "To The Wives" she could read.....and you too could find many things that applied
to you and your drinking. There you will also find a way many of us are finding a non drinking happy life...

Most meetings have them for sale (around 7 bucks). Here is an online version to get you started: Big Book Online.

I would suggest you get to an AA meeting tomorrow and tell them that you are a newby. Trying to get sober by yourself is difficult.
