Thirsty and Miserable
Thirsty and Miserable
I woke up at 1:00 am last night to change my 1 year old's diaper and get him back to sleep. I felt terrible, I was so thirsty, my stomach hurt and I felt buzzed out, just I like I did when I was drinking. It made me remember why I stopped and how bad I would feel in the am. I felt bad in a good way. I often forget about the downside of drinking and that was a good reminder.

That was a good wake up call!! one that along the way in my recovery I forget about!... it's always a good thing to "play the tape forward" BEFORE we pick up...it's a reminder of all the crap associated with drinking!! good for you! stay strong!!

Yes, welcome. I, too enjoyed your tale, it reminded me of my own selective memory. We had an old-timer back in the day who used to say that "we alcoholics have damned good forgetters". As usual, he was right!
Exhaustion makes me feel yucky too. I have a nasty cold and I'm remembering the yuck that is hungover. I'm so glad I don't have to drink today and I'm so glad your sober to see that baby grow up.
