One year sober!
One year sober!
So, I am more or less one year sober! I can't recall the exact date I stopped, but it was more or less sometime this month or the next.
It has been an up and down trip, and last month I suddenly got the urge to drink again after feeling fine for several months. But the urge passes. I take vitamin pills at night (which is when I feel like drinking), and for some strange reason, they seem to quell the urge.
My brain also functions more or less normally now. I had alot of brain weirdness over the last year, but my memory is more or less back, and my brain doesn't feel like jelly anymore. Of course, not every day is the same, but I would say that I seem to be more or less back to normal.
I even got a job! That is great news! I would have never had the energy to go to work before.
Anyway, onward and upward! And here's to staying sober!

Thank you all for your kind words!
It has been worth all the effort put into staying sober!
I have found this forum to be a really good means of support, although I do not often post. I do, however, enjoy reading the stories here at night when I feel like a beer... I always feel better after reading half a dozen threads!

Yes. I do regularly go to "French philosophy" groups (i.e. Lacan, Derrida), and, oddly enough, I have found this to be absolutely invaluable (moreso in addressing the "root cause" of the drinking). But I have not been to any specific AA-type groups.
I am studying and need to finish (and can't make progress when I drink), and I have a strong will to stay sober for this very reason.
