Hair Dye Reeks of Beer!

This is a strange post, I know--I am coloring my hair at home and the dye reeks of beer--like a thick lager. If smells trigger you, you may not want to use a certain grocery store foam product that just came on the market (not sure if I can name names under SR rules!) This is not a faint smell, it is overwhelming and is now throughout my entire house. Thank God beer is not a trigger for me!

I know what you are talking about. Smells have never been a trigger for me. That smell was soooo overpowering and offensive it nearly made me sick!

Hope the new color is attractive....

That is so funny I almost posted this the other day but thought people might be like 'wtf' about it. It TOTALLY smells like beer. It wasn't triggering for me but it was gross!! I don't remember what brand it was but it was a foaming one!

Because we do have SR members who use Antabuse...and if the
product actually contains alcohol... again please read the box...

I do think it's ok to mention the specific name in this situation.
We do share that Listerine and some Nyquil are high in alcohol content.

It is Clairol Nice N Easy Color Blend Foam. The box does not mention beer (or any alcohol) as an ingredient, least as far as I can tell--so I called Clairol and they said it does NOT have alcohol/beer. The smell is insiduous, much like alcohol itself--you don't smell it until you have applied it and have had it on for a few minutes...but then, yowza. My towels STILL smell like I've mopped up last night's bar room floor.

Carol--it's just the new foamy stuff. I've used the regular stuff for years too and thought I'd experiment! Won't do it again, that's for sure!

Hi, it's likely that the hair dye contains Ammonia. It has a very strong smell that is similar to the aldehyde metabolites that your body produces when processing alcohol. Both are toxins.

I shouldn't worry too much though - just don't drink it

I've just discovered though that the Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) supplements I'm taking reek of beer... maybe they've added some of that.

Yes it's the foaming stuff specifically. It smells like my husband brewing beer. He says it's the barley? IDK.
