Learned first hand about relapse!

First off, I've been sober 94 days first and longest time sober. However, a week ago I quit smoking - had been flawless with it. It's been difficult but I knew it would be worth it.

The other day I was running errands and my wife asked me to pick up a carton of smokes at the Indians which I reluctantly agreed to do. At this same time I was also coming off of one anti-depressant and starting another so not feeling great. I smoked 1 cigarette. I knew I'd be pissed but I did.

Early sobriety from any substance is so fragile and this was just one more reminder that I need to continue to watch my triggers and be prepared. I haven't smoked since and my goal today was to not drink and not smoke.

Today was a success.

Im 42, i quit smoking when i was 32, 10 years ago but about a year ago a friends car broke down and he kept it in my driveway for a while and he left a new unopened pack of smokes in the seat.

They called my name every day until i opened the pack and smoked them all in a week, then bought a few more packs, i pulled myself together and quit after a couple weeks of smoking last year.

just goes to show how we have to be on gaurd at all times,

Good luck achieving a smoke-free life. Just keep trying.

I've found cigarettes to be 20 times harder to quit than alcohol, really.
