watching dvd of Mad Men, great show!
Did people really drink like that in the workplace back then?

Not just back then...scary isn't it. There's more to life than just drinking and I hope others finally realize that -like we have.

They still do they just hide it now. The phrase "a 3 martini lunch" came from somewhere you know

I think what's startling is the fact that virtually EVERYONE on the show is drinking absurd amounts. Love the show, by the way. Breaking Bad picks up again in July...

Advertising was infamous for the amount of drinking that went on. Not every industry was so plastered.

Advertising today is still a very boozy industry. Part of the culture.

In one episode, the doctor is prescribing a heavy drug to calm Don Draper's blood pressure, never counseling him to quit smoking...and they LITTER after a picnic.

unfortunately the show doesn't start up again until March 2012.
