ikc 2010,
I don't have anything against AA. I admit, I'm deathly afraid of going to a meeting but after reading some of the advice from people like yourself, I looked into it the other day, and was willing to force myself to go. The only meetings around me generally start at 7:00 or 8:00 PM (or in the afternoon when I'm working). By then (7:00 or 8:00pm), if I'm going to drink, I've already started. Plus, I have to get up at 4:00 am for work. I haven't ruled out AA ,but this is my first serious attempt at quitting and I'm going to try this, along with some apps another member mentioned-thanks Chrissie) first. If that doesn't work, I'm going to get a therapist (not a psychiatrist-already tried that). And just keep on searching til I find the answer.
On day 4, drinking coffee, making up hamburgers for hubby to grill, and totally sober! I'm not even struggling too bad right now. It seems the hardest for me is not stopping to buy any on the way home from work. I stopped at the drug store and paid double $ for some sugar and a few other items because I didn't trust myself to make it past the wine isle, today.
Thank you, and I will remember your advice if this doesn't work!
