Oh, sure. I used to think it was the most awful offense imaginable-- like lying to a priest. I could excuse drinking yourself into oblivion, but lying about it? Shame on you!

It's the perfect example of my complete misunderstanding of the disease of alcoholism. I've since come to understand that the deceit is as much a part of it as the drinking.
