George Jones, the famous country singer, once rode a riding lawn mover to the bar because his wife took away his keys. 5 miles.

I went out of my way to get a drink a many
many times. I went out in the best of weather
and the worst of storms. Flooding. Who in their
right mind would get out in horrible terrible
weather to go to a club and drink? ME.
I went to any lengths to get a drink, then when
I got sober I went to and continue to go to any
lengths to stay sober.
I've done whatever it takes to stay sober for the
past 20 yrs. and continue to do so today.
Why you ask? Cause I dont want to die. And because
life continues to get better as time goes on. I Promise.

Maybe you didn't have a choice, Jen. I know for me, it was realizing I no longer had a choice-- that I was going to drink-- that made the difference for me. I realized I was powerless.
God, it took me a lot of relapses to come to that conclusion.

Hiya Genjen, OMG what a huge LOL, and I still love that cat!
Gen we fellow Marchers love you, no matter what.
Some people need a relapse because they/"we" learn a valuable lesson from it, maybe it was better to happen now than 5 months down the road. It takes a lot of courage to come on here and be honest, I'm sure there are members on here who have relapsed and kept a secret.
Don't get a sponsor too quickly, you want to pick the right one, and you will know when you find her. Plus finding a sponsor doesn't guarantee sobriety, I should know.
Once a Marcher, always a Marcher,
LOVE YOU Genjen!

Thanks everyone, you're all awesome <3
I did hook up with a sponsor tonight and we made a deal that if it didn't work out or we didn't connect that I would bring it up pronto and find another one. I like her already. =)

Sense you're feeling beat up over the fact that you drank, why not try focusing on how great the quality of your days spent sober were opposed to the quantity? Pick yourself up and keep on going! You have so many reasons to do so!
