so a luthier is an engineer with strings!
LOL, ste. Strings, paint, concrete, silicon. Sights and sounds. Artists and engineers. It's all the same to me. Creating is creating, and I'm impressed by it all.

I like airbrush, pencil, black and white ink, acrylics, colored pencil and gouache.
The painters that I've learned most from are Drew Struzan, Norman Rockwell, Matt Bush, and Alex Ross (not to be confused with the late Bob Ross)

I'll post some work soon. everything i've done this year that weren't comissions were of my family and i don't want those on the net.

Awesome talent throughout on this thread! Thanks, La Femme! I picked "writer" but music was my first love. I sacrificed it to addiction in 1983. It's surfaced a couple times since during respites of sobriety. This thread compels me to pick it up again, and also the writing. Thanks.

They have not been viewed by anyone before and i would slighty feel ashamed as they are not your average poems. They are personal. There is alot of anger and fustration within then and people mightnt like them...so i am unsure wehther or not to post them becoz of peoples reactions. Like i said nobody has ever seen them before so i wouldnt know what to expect....

Why will it never be completed...if its finished???

Sorry...I was unclear...I wrote 125 pages but the book is about half way and I've changed too much to finish that story...if I were to write a book today it would be very different

I used to create web pages and was heavy into photoshop. I also play the piano. Since I broke free of opiates I haven't been as interested in my creative side, I haven't been able to connect emotionally to it but I've developed other interests like gardening and getting more interested in creative cooking.... self taught like all things.

I have about 10 years of notes, a lot of them very self indulgent, from my drinking.

The ones written when I was drunk are the worst; complete non-sensical ramblings but some of them contain some pretty interesting stuff.

Cool All the talented People!!!!

This is my 1st post here, and WOW what a suprise to find a poll on creativity, because i've been into art since I was a kid, nowdays i'm into pencil drawings. I use to do a lot of wood carvings but now I have R.A. so holding the tools for any length of time really is a killer on the hands so I went back to something less abrassive on the joints. No pun Intended.

Welcome, hwdcarver, fellow St. Louisan!!! I looked at your profile. I really dig M.C. Escher.

I have been into drawing and painting since I was a kid. Wasn't it Picasso who said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."? (Ooh.. new quote for my siggy ) I was always drawing or painting something. I continued through high school and attempted an art major in college, but experienced major blockage. I do have a copy of that Julia Cameron book. Gonna have to dig it back up.
I started back up, mostly doing pencil, charcoal, but sometimes pastels or... I don't know what you call it. I call it "paper cutting" but I'm sure there is some fancy term for it... using some colored paper and cutting shapes and gluing them. Oh, boy, I sound really dumb right now. Anyway, I have done some things over the past few years that I am pretty proud of. Not gallery quality or anything, but good enough to make me believe that there is something in me, darn it! Something that could be quite incredible if I just took the time to practice and develop. Mostly animals. I started a drawing of my dog that died recently... so far so good. A close-up of his face from when he was about 5 months old and he had grabbed a branch and was running around the yard with it.

Nice to see all the talent around here. Great idea on a thread, LF.
