Constant paranoia ?

It just came to me the other day after it being pointed out to me that I am constantly paranoid. I'm 2+ years sober and I'm just wondering if it could be from all the damage done to my brain from alcohol and drugs? Or if anybody else has this problem. I guess I don't think I've ever noticed me being like this before I got serious into drugs and alcohol.

Is there anything I can do about it? Or am I just ruined for life with it?

Depends on what you mean by paranoid Hooty.

A lot of us can tend to be pretty guarded by virtue of all we've been through...I wouldn't say I was paranoid tho or even that there's a higher incidence of it here than any place else?

but if you think you're being unreasonably fearful or overly mistrustful, or you think there's a genuine psychological issue there, maybe your Dr or some counselling could help?

Could being unreasonably fearful and overly mistrustful be a psychological issue? Because I am both of those, very much so. I guess I could maybe do some research, but I honestly just like coming here to get some input and advice.
Just sucks because I don't currently have insurance and won't have it until I'm enrolled back into college in the Fall so it is very expensive to go to the Dr and stuff right now and I can't afford it. But if it needs to be done, then it needs to be done.

well I'm no psychologist - and none else here is either Hooty :)

If you find being unreasonably fearful and overly mistrustful is impacting upon your life badly, then I recommend you get a professional appraisal as soon as you can.
