went on the drink

After a 12day dry period i went on bender last night drank about 10 pints and half bottle of vodka, but on a postive note i was sorely tempted to go on the **** again today as soon as i woke up i walked down to the pub , but walked back and decieded to make something to eat instead.

Pfff... Top marks Horse, put the goodness back. You'll need it, thats getting into hard Ale, but seems like a good reminder for you, well done.

I'm sorry Horse, but glad you're back.

Do you know what happened and can you avoid the same mistake next time?

Got any ideas on what to add to what you've been doing so far for recovery?

I guess one of the options you could use is come here and post BEFORE you drink..we can help. You could also hit the library and pick up some self help books. That always kept me in line. While you are there..be sure to pick up a book or two on the assault drinking does to every organ in your body. Drinking also wreaks havoc on your brain.. I used some anger to stay sober early on. WHO in their right mind wants to be controlled by this addiction to alcohol that will surely kill you one way or another in time!?

If you can break out of the thinking that you are "dry" (I always hated that term) and instead think of it as one of the BEST things you can do to improve your life you may be able to string more days together. But really..I am posting to see how you are doing today?

Two questions:
1. Have you learned from the experience?
2. Now what?

Horsebox606 I did this routine for years. I'd finally beat myself up enough to quit drinking for a little bit. I'd say "This is amazing. I can stop for a whole week". Then after a week or two the urge would just get to be too much for me, and I'd be back to drinking til I could barely stand
