Yes, it depends on what is causing them. Go to your doctor for real.
I never got an answer to why mine became so bad, a mix I would guess between constant withdrawal and anxiety, it was not fun. I would get the shakes when I would take a shower and such, bad, it was so strange and horrible. Ive been clean 3 months now and they are nearly gone, but I think I may always have them, I musta did some damage to my nervous system. God I hate booze.

yeah i think its a damaged nerves. its not massive shakes, but noticble, my parents noticed too. i got the faintest buzzing feeling up my hands/ arms. this kind of thing isnt even funny anymore. i guess the first route to try is become a 'social drinker' . maybe quit altogether, if i can.
If the tremors are alcohol-related, then your best course is quitting altogether. I think that some people are more susceptible to physical damage from alcohol than others. Some people get end-stage liver disease in their twenties or thirties, others drink for much longer before showing physical symptoms.
Obviously you think you are drinking too much, or you wouldn't be here. Social drinkers don't aspire to be social drinkers, and alcohol problems tend to progress, sometimes very rapidly.

Towards the end of my drinking marathon ...there were days when I couldn't write. Bad deal for me because I have to sign alot of income withholding orders..tax levy forms, child support, etc. It only took 2 or 3 weeks of abstaining for the shakes to go away. One of many reasons I will not return to drinking. It wreaks havoc on your entire system. Keep in mind I didn't always have this ..it snuck up after years of drinking. Age varies. I was lucky it didn't continue.

think of it as a sign that you need to quit. you don't say how much or for how long you've been drinking but if you are getting the shakes and feel tremendous anxiety, have trouble sleeping (not to be confused with passing out) and a miriad of other problems, most likely the booze is causing it.
alcohol robs your body...tell your doctor the truth and let them help you stop safely. don't wait and ponder this one, act now.
my hands used to shake so bad i couldn't eat soup or sign for my confidential office mail...when people commented, i would blame my "coffee".
my shaking stopped too as did my acid reflux, i have not needed Nexxium or Prylosec in almost 10 days now.

I share Fandy's experience, couldn't write, couldn't hold a fork or spoon to eat, and blamed too much coffee when anybody noticed. Also noticed that each time I tried to quit, the shakes lasted longer and longer (kindling). Not fun, but it went away completely after about 10 days.
Forward we go...side by side-Rest In Peace

Please do ask your doctor...and be honest about your drinking.
then the proper test can be done to determine what
is necessary for healing.
Social drinking? that is not going to improve a darn thing.
Nerve damage or not....drinking damages all your body and brain.

Any shaking tremors really needs a Dr to look at it, IMO, Dan.
And don't worry about comparing yourself to others...regardless of how long or how much or what we drank, we all ended up in the same dark place

you are a young, strong person and your damage is not as long term as mine was. you have an excellent chance to live a wonderful life, fulfilled with accomplishing so much!!!
please believe me when i tell you that alcohol can rob you blind and take everything you really want.
